Events at Court Garden

An evening of summer choral music with the Baroque Collective Singers a brilliant chamber choir from Lewes conducted by John Hancorn plus solos by young professional musicians Alexander Hancorn, flugelhorn, and tenor Kristian Thorkildsen. 

The programme features Monteverdi’s ode to springtime O Primavera, lively and pastoral English madrigals, charming Liebeslieder Waltzes by Brahms, Handel’s Nightingale Chorus and English folksong arrangements by John Rutter. Alexander Hancorn explores mellow jazz standards on the flugelhorn and Kristian Thorkildsen sings Handel and English folksongs.

The evening will commence in Court Garden Style with a glass of Court Garden sparkling wine in our marquee spilling out into the courtyard. We will settle down in our lovely Sussex Barn before the charismatic John Hancorn introduces us to the choir and talks us through the music to be performed.

There will be an interval of 30 minutes when we will return to the marquee where delicious finger food will be served and there will be an opportunity to buy another drink from the bar.

All proceeds to Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity.

Last autumn the Charity moved to Chailey, where they do invaluable work with children living with Cerebral Palsy. Last year they helped 80 families and have ambitions to double that.
